After being found guilty of shooting 16-year-old Sammantha Salas and the attempted murder of her friend, Rayshawn, left and Nickelis Blackwell received life sentences Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Burbank Court. The two girls were ambushed by the Blackwells, along with a male friend, who was the intended target, as they walked to a corner store in unincorporated Monrovia in 2008. Police said the Balckwells, members of he black DuRock Crips, were retaliating for the shotgun murder of their uncle, about a month earlier. The violence was part of blood feud between a black and a latino gang that broke out in Monrovia in early 2008 and killed 3 people, including Salas who was not a gang member.(SGVN/Staff Photo by Walt Mancini/SXCity)
